Bookmaking Workshops
Young people develop characters, shape a plot, and turn their ideas into a book. Working with professional writers and illustrators, participants practice storytelling, collaboration, and revision while seeing their voices represented on the page.
Animation & Visual Storytelling
Our animation and coloring initiatives invite young creators to explore characters, images, and story. These programs give children additional ways to express ideas and connect creativity with literacy.
Programs for Schools & Communities

From Young Imaginations to Published Books
A Second Chance and Zombie Shark began as stories imagined by public-school students in New York and developed with professional creative collaborators. These finished books show how children’s ideas can become stories for other readers.
Iris is the perfect sister. She’s better at magic. Better at friends. Better at life. Her sister, Sakura, is fed up and sets a plan to feed her humble pie by embarrassing Iris at her birthday party. When Sakura’s scheme doesn’t go as planned, she learns something about her sister and herself.
